Is Free Read Aloud really free?+
Yes. You can use local voices as often as you like, and you do not need an account to read webpages aloud.
Do I have to log in?+
No. Sign-in is optional and will later let you save preferences and reading progress across devices.
Which pages can it read?+
It works on most articles, blogs, documentation, and other webpages with readable text. Chrome blocks extensions on its own system and Web Store pages.
Which voices can I use?+
The free extension uses the voices installed in Chrome or on your device. Optional natural voices are planned for a future release.
Can it read PDFs?+
Use the SpeakMyDoc PDF workspace for PDFs today. Browser-PDF support is planned as a later extension update.
Does SpeakMyDoc store the pages I read?+
No. In this first release, text is processed locally and sent only to your device’s browser voice.
